    Very good

Hotel was well located in City Center. Lots of restaurants in the area and easy walking distance to many sites. Seemed like good security-- needed hotel card to access elevator from ground level and to go to any floors other than reception. Bed very comfortable.

Hotel was adequate but would not stay there again. The refrigerator wasn't working and when we told them on the way out they checked and some switch had not been turned on. There was no information in the room as far as how to contact the desk and on the two occasions I went down to speak to someone, noone was at reception. The swivel rod was gone from the blinds so they couldn't be closed (thankfully there were blackout shades.) Nice products in the bathroom but no shower cap. It was a scorching 100+ degrees in Philadelphia the weekend we were there and the air conditioning was great although quite loud.

    Exceptional

Great location, nice staff, friendly feel. They even gave me an umbrella. Big room with smart furniture and a clean, contempoary feel, plus aircon. Good parking arrangement, worked out only $30 by negotiation with parking attendant for 5 days and I was able to come and go each day. Free wifi on multiple devices very useful. Great little ipod/iphone docking station. I prefer small boutique hotels to big corporates so accept there is no room service or kitchen or fancy bar but it is seconds walk away from fab restaurants and bars and reception is manned 24 hours. You can have wine and beer from their fridge in reception and there's free fruit, and the rooms have fridges too. The gym is on 12th street 2 mins away and is excellent with a pool too.

The Independant is without doubt one of the best Boutique Hotels we have booked via Booked.net. It has Class, Comfort and Style and the staff are spectactular with a 10 out of 10 for courtesy and service. We will recommend this Hotel to all our friends. A really nice touch is the evening wine and cheese get together for residents an opportunity to meet and talk with other travellers.

There is nothing not to like about The Independant

Excellent hotel- convenient location, nicely designed and very clean and comfortable. Staff were extremely welcoming. Overall, a much better choice than many of the high end hotels in Philadelphia at a much better price.

    Fabulous

I stayed 2 night in this nice hotel, very comfortable and clean rooms, free wireless internet.

Lobby is very small and located with the Reception in the second floor.

    Superb

The room was fantastic, the hotel staff were lovely and there were nice added extras like a complementary wine and cheese evening.

I guess it was the wooden floor who made a lot of noise due to temperature changes waking me about every hour at night. same irregular noise from the airconditioning. Included breakfast is poor. I had ordered a taxi to the airport at 4.45 am and had to wait outside for the cab as there is no lobby at the first floor. You do not feel secure outside the hotel in Philly with luggage early morning.

We were treated as honoured guest and nothing was too much troulble for the staff and we received an upgrade, the location was ideal for sightseeing and the parking arrangements were good. One of our best stops on a 3 week trip. Would highly recommend it

Small boutique atmosphere. Close to everything.....great walking location. Amenities were spacious and comfortable. Wine and cheese tastings in the evening. Security is great. Business services were readily available for last minute printing. Staff called a cab for me when needed to avoid being late for events also which was really nice. Erica

Modern, clean and secure hotel in convenient location

Lights in bathroom (on weird switches) and radio next to bed kept turning themselves on throughout the night. Had to unplug/unscrew to get uninterrupted sleep.

Well appointed, aesthetically pleasing, and conveniently situated. Good value for the price.

Inadequate seating in the room. One more easy chair would have been welcome and could easily fit in the room.

    Very good

Location, cheap parking (15 dollar for 24 hours), big room, comfortable kingsize bed.

Not enough light in room & bathroom

    Superb

Location and friendliness of the staff.

The ac blows into the bed. We were not used to having alternating warm and cold air blow on our faces during sleep. The refrigerator was too cold and froze everything. The night person on duty did not know enough to help correct the problem (control turned out to be at the back of the refrigerator and could have been turned down). Lights in the bathroom did not work properly. We were told it was a problem that was being fixed. Having at least one more chair in the room would be helpful.

Very convenient location near excellent restaurants, shopping and entertainment. Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable accommodations and great shower.

The television was very difficult to operate which was annoying, although there were instructions provided. We would have liked a bedside table on both sides of the bed rather than one, and perhaps a comfortable chair in one of the roomy corners.

This very pleasant boutique hotel has a great location downtown Philadelphia. Staff is very friendly and welcomes you with wine, cheese, and grapes. The rooms are very nice. And the breakfast, which is served in your room at the time you want, is good. I can really recommend this hotel.
